ABOUT THE CLASS

PreK/Kindergarteners will learn through a variety of lessons and activities based around children’s rich literature. With these books we will have a chance to expand and explore social studies, language, art, applied math and even science.  We will learn together through a variety of activities that will be developmentally age appropriate to your child.  There will be a chance to further explore these activities with suggested books and activities to do with your child at home if you desire. Children will be exposed to a friendly classroom environment and expected to work respectively and cooperatively with teachers, assistants, and peers learning/strengthening basic classroom manners.  During the school year, we will also have a chance to explore our outside environment. Suggested and appropriate seasonal attire is required on all days unless severe weather is present.

NOTE: Student's must turn 4 years old (for Pre-K) or 5 years old (for K) BY September 1st.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Each week, children should bring a backpack with a pencil box filled with:

1. 2 sharpened pencils

2. 1 box of Crayola 8 Crayons (this gives the basic colors we will need to work with)

3. 1 child-sized scissor

4. 2 glue sticks

5. 1 bottle of white glue

6. 1 folder

7. 1 non-lined spiral notebook (for journaling)

8. 1 pair of dice

PLEASE LABEL your child’s supplies. 

*Parents are asked to sign up and supply a snack and drink item for the class 2-3 times during the school year.
