ABOUT THE CLASS

Though we live in a time where the prevalence of artificial intelligence seems to threaten to crowd out human originality, our upper-level art students will be able to participate with confidence, equipped with the skills and training to keep their God-given creativity sharp, through drawing exercises and sustained projects, individual and team driven. This year, our students will experience a variety of art materials and be inspired by a large range of artists from around the globe, from folk artists to modern designers, using media that ranges from the basic to the extraordinary to the unexpected. We’ll create projects that will prepare students to go out into their world and make meaningful, useful, and wonderful things to bless those around them and make the world a more beautiful place because of their work.

Homework: The bulk of our projects will be completed in class, but on occasion students may be asked to research an artist, do preliminary sketches, or complete unfinished artwork at home. This will be communicated in class as well as via my weekly email updates.
