In art class, we’ll be learning about and applying the elements and principles of art and design, with projects varying in media, duration and format.   The year will be divided into media-based units (Basics, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture), and students will be encouraged to keep their best work in a “portfolio,” to be evaluated at the end of the year and from which they’ll choose their best pieces to be submitted to the Showcase art show. 

We will build on basic skills and strive towards each student doing their personal very best, according to their gifts!  There will be a variety of fun projects, often with connections to art history or Biblical principles, with God getting the credit for our creations!  This approach gives students the time necessary to do their best work and helps students gain an understanding of the process behind art-making.  

1.  Paint shirt to be kept in backpack, especially during painting and sculpture units!
